i had lasik today. and i can see now; everything is the same caliber of hazy. like i'm looking through a sheer white fabric. and my eyes are a little tender, sore, and irritated. like i have one stubborn grain of sand under each lid. hot sand.
this is fine. but what was frightening was the first step of the procedure. they apply a glass plate (with considerable pressure) to the eye. and you lose your sight. things go black, and shady and slow. and that was terrifying. what did i think i was doing? screwing with my eyes? that's like messing with time-space. you just don't do it.
but turns out it was ok. they knew what they were doing, and the velvet-voiced surgeon was very skilled.
i'm glad. i'd do it again. but maybe with more than 1 valium.
